Homemade Tomato Sauce
I realised last night that we had ran out of tomato sauce 😱
The kids would not have been happy if I tried to serve up dinner without sauce so I threw together a paleo tomato sauce.
Did you know that conventional tomato sauce is often loaded with white sugar and has additives and colourings added.
This version is healthy and really easy to throw together while you get busy making dinner.
The kids loved it. So I’m calling it a winner! 😋🍅
- 2 cans of diced tomatoes
- 1/2 onion chopped
- 1 teaspoon of coconut sugar
- 1/3 cup of apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground all spice
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- Pinch of salt
Bring all ingredients to boil in a saucepan, stirring regularly.
Once at boil reduce heat and simmer for about an hour or until sauce reduces by half and thickens.
Take off heat and let cool slightly.
The blend until smooth.
Store in a sterilised glass jar it is as simple as that 🙌
Note: You can also do this in a Thermomix on Varoma temp for 30min with cap off, then blend on speed 10 for 1 min with cap back on (rising to full speed slowly).
