Foodie Friends- Domonique Young
As many of you know I have been studying at the Institute of Integrative nutrition (IIN) for the past 12 months. The experience has been absolutely life changing and I now know I have found the perfect path for me. Over the next few weeks I am going to introduce you to a few of the lovely health coaches I have met during my time at IIN and I am blessed to be having them as special guests here at Healthy Belly Happy Mind.
First up is the gorgeous Domonique Young who is the owner and creator of Living Young. Domonique is a yoga teacher and holistic health coach helping women to transform their health through love, movement and nourishment.
As well as being a huge advocator for health and wellness and she is also the mummy of two furbabies- Frankie and Clyde. Staffies are the best!
I hope you enjoy getting to know Domonique and I recommend you try her awesome recipe, the bliss balls truly are amazing!
Why did you decide to study at IIN?
I’ve always been interested in health and wellbeing. As a yoga teacher, I’d often get asked about natural alternatives or different diets and could only answer from personal experience. I guess you could say it became the catalyst for me to look for a more formal education. That, and wanting to offer something more integrated for my students and clients. I looked at several courses and degrees, but was drawn to IIN’s holistic approach to health and wellness, and the incredible lineup of lecturers.
What is your goal once you complete your studies with IIN and how to you plan to help people?
I love working as a health coach and hope to inspire women to cherish themselves through movement, nourishment and love. To feel young, and wildly free to live from their heart and rock the life they’ve always wanted. Think retreats, online programs and one-on-one coaching.
What do you eat on a typical day?
I often kick off my day with a cacao, kale and hearty berry smoothie, followed by a green salad for lunch. I mix up my salads for what’s in season, love to add rocket and you you can bet it’s drizzled in extra virgin olive or organic coconut oil. For dinner, we tend to indulge in salmon with a veggie salad, an asian-inspired soup or veggie dahl.
Could you please your favourite go-to snack on a busy day?
I’m addicted to cacao so if it’s available I’ll reach for it first! Be it bliss balls, raw chocolate or chia pudding.
