Essential Oils for Yoga

Essential oils have so much to offer around the practice of yoga and meditation.

They can be used individually and blended together to support relaxation, focus, energy, and happiness.

And in this post I’ll look at the stunningly beautiful doTERRA Yoga Collection, designed to support the practice of yoga and meditation. (But it’s definitely worth noting that these blends have incredibly supportive properties which can be used outside of the practice of yoga and meditation, and in life generally.)

The three blends in the Yoga Collection––Anchor, Align, and Arise––bring together essential oils that work together synergistically offering three different areas of support.

Each blend comes already diluted with fractionated coconut oil, and are ready-to-use topically*. You can also inhale the aroma either from the bottle, or by placing a drop in your hand and rubbing your palms together before inhaling. They can be diffused, but just be sure to clean your diffuser well after using because of the FCO.

Anchor blend

Anchor blend is the Steadying blend, with grounding, calming, and balancing supportive properties, and has an earthy, woody aroma.

Its ingredients are Lavender, Cedarwood, Frankincense, Cinnamon Bark, Sandalwood, Black Pepper, and Patchouli, diluted in fractionated coconut oil.

This is a beautiful blend for the practice of yoga and can be used alone or in combination with the other two blends through the course of your practice.

Align blend

The Align blend is the Centering blend, and its ingredients Bergamot, Coriander, Marjoram, Peppermint, Geranium, Basil, Rose, and Jasmine diluted in fractionated coconut oil, create a fresh and herbally aroma.

This blend supports you when you’re feeling a sense of disconnectedness and a loss of control in the modern-day pace of life. It can help promote peaceful feelings, together with a welcome sense of alignment and purpose.

Arise blend

The Arise blend is the Uplifting blend, and has a powerful combination of ingredients: Lemon, Grapefruit, Siberian Fir, Osmanthus, and Melissa, creating a joyful, fresh aroma.

This blend is particularly stimulating and is actually probably best saved to the end of your yoga practice, maybe before a meditation.

Arise is also a lovely blend to use first thing in the morning when you wake, and while practicing your affirmations and considering your coming day. Beautiful to carry around with you throughout the day on your diffuser jewelry.

*Please note, the Arise blend has photosensitive properties, so don’t apply it to areas of your skin which may be exposed to the sun in the next 12 hours.

Have you used these blends in your yoga or meditation practice, or in life in general? I’d love you to share your experiences with them, and any other combos you love for this purpose in the comments below x
