Essential Oils for Fertility
Did you know that certain essential oils can be used to help support your hormonal balance and can support your fertility?
For this post, I’m using doTERRA’s ClaryCalm as a starting point, looking at some of the ingredients benefits and their properties. This blend is designed to support women during their menstrual cycle. The majority of the individual ingredients can be used as single oils, but some work synergistically with each other in the blend.
There are of course other oils which can have beneficial properties supporting hormonal balance and fertility, and several will be discussed following.
ClaryCalm Blend
ClaryCalm is a blend produced by doTERRA which can be helpful during the menstrual cycle, helping to balance emotions.
It is a combination of Clary Sage, Lavender, Bergamot, Roman Chamomile, Cedarwood, Ylang Ylang, Geranium, Fennel, Carrot Seed, Palmarosa, and Vitex.
Dilute it with fractionated coconut oil and apply to your skin, or diffuse for the benefits of calming and balancing emotions and mood.
Let’s have a quick look at some the benefits of the various oils in the blend as they relate to hormones and may help fertility:
Clary Sage
is known as a uterine tonic (a uterine tonic is helpful in strengthening the uterus and regulating the reproductive system). It stimulates the pituitary gland which produces oestrogen, a key group of hormones involved with our menstrual cycle and fertility. It works well with geranium.
Geranium
supportive to regulate hormonal function and has a hormonal balancing effect, and is also a uterine and ovarian tonic.
Sweet Fennel
supportive to regulate the menstrual cycle and reduce hormonal fluctuations. It is an effective phytoestrogenic essential oil – meaning it produces a similar response to oestrogen within the body.
Lavender
is good for relaxation, hormonal regulation and it can support to regulate scanty menstruation. It works well in combination with geranium and clary sage.
Ylang Ylang
supports reproductive organs and hormonal balance, and has aphrodisiac properties (helpful when trying for a baby becomes less romantic).
Carrot Seed
supports hormonal production, and may help to regulate the thyroid and menstrual cycle.
Vitex
promotes hormonal balance, and specifically helpful in the balance of oestrogen and progesterone.
The following can be supportive for their stress relieving properties:
Roman Chamomile
promotes feelings of calm, and helps to relieve anxious feelings.
Cedarwood
promotes relaxation and is soothing.
Bergamot
has calming and uplifting properties.
Additional essential oils which may be helpful for supporting fertility include:
Tarragon
is helpful for supporting to regulate irregular menstrual cycle, and calming period pains.
Myrrh
is a phytoestrogen, promotes emotional balance and helps regulate scanty periods.
Coriander
helps to stimulate oestrogen and vaginal secretions.
As always quality really matters, and that’s why I love doTERRA products… their commitment to purity and quality testing guarantees their essential oils are of excellent grade.
