Episode Ninety-One: Break out of the cycles of uncertainty with Becca Ribbing

On this episode Becca Ribbing, author of The Clarity Journal and coach, joins me in discussing moving forward and living our best lives. Becca specialises in helping women break out of the cycle of uncertainty and guides them towards the answers to the question “what next?”.

Becca talks about her journey to finding this purpose in her life, and the way in which she began to challenge the age-old idea of sticking to one specific career path for the rest of your life. She states her ideal that the elusive clarity that everyone is trying to achieve isn’t a permanent state, it comes and goes and changes with time. People outgrow their goals and instead of trying to capture it once for a lifetime, it fits better to listen to ourselves as life goes on, because chances are our passions will shift as we get older.

We discuss the common patterns in people that are feeling stuck in their lives, such as making excuses to not be focusing on certain things, and Becca drops pearls of wisdom on how this looks so as to snap ourselves out of it and start moving forward again.

The person holding you back is you

Support systems are important when it comes to moving towards your goals, and receiving negative feedback from the people you care about can be quite demoralising. Becca talks through how we can combat this and focus on the opinions and feedback that matters.

Tips on moving forwards and getting clear are also discussed, for example focusing on the small steps more often than the big milestones, to lessen overwhelm and to re-evaluate your progress and where you want to end up.

In this episode Becca encourages those who are going through this feeling of standing still, to get out of your comfort zone by making sure you have your cheerleaders, and your creative outlets. Having these two things helps you with inspiration and motivation to get started or keep going!

A last reminder from Becca to keep with you during those uncertain times; nothing is a waste. There is no such thing as a wrong decision in which path you decide to take. Everything has a way of helping in some way or another, so whatever happens is part of your journey not a mistake!
