Episode Seventy Two: Creating a positive mindset with your business finances
During this episode, I chat to Aimee about her driving factor for changing from her corporate job to working for herself. She talks about her journey in the corporate world how she kept getting promoted and knew she had the right skill sets. She kept chasing the pay checks but found she wasn’t fulfilled.
She worked within the financial sector and she wanted to support small businesses that didn’t get their finances, so she created a secret plan that she didn’t even tell her husband about out of fear. On the outside, her corporate job looked like the right career but she didn’t love it and it affected her physically and mentally. Aimee shares how one morning her husband asked if she was ok which she replied no she wasn’t. From that moment she took a leave of absence from work and started building out a plan for her business. At the six month mark, she decided to leave her full-time job and took on a part-time job and grew her business from there. Aimee talks about why she took the slow intentional process to build her business with her part-time job as support.
Aimee shares what helped her move past the fear, she knew she wasn’t afraid to work and how when you have an inner knowing you have to go for it. She shares tips on moving past any fears that may come up for you like creating a worst-case scenario which could be that you may have to pick up another job if things don’t work out. This gives you that security to go all-in with your business knowing that you have a plan if it doesn’t work out. Being comfortable enough with the worst-case scenario gives you the confidence to proceed.
Throughout this episode, we discuss what money shame is and how you can turn the stories around to create positive money beliefs. We chat about tips for playing small and shame around earning money for your business. How it’s about knowing that you are empowering your clients with what they need right now.
