During this episode, I chat to Aimee about her personal birthing journey and how she came to be a doula. Aimee shares her story starting from her family operating a pet shop where she became a doggy doula. She would watch the birthing experience of the dogs from the pet shop and held space for them. Aimee went on to study in another field for many years and during her last years she fell pregnant with her first daughter. She started researching birthing and women’s bodies and fell in love with this field. Aimee shares her birthing journey’s and how she branched into the birthing scene becoming a doula.

Aimee talks about what a doula is and how they can support you during the whole birthing experience. Sharing how a doula is a birth attendant that supports you throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum. They become a familiar face and provide you with unbiased information to use to help make decisions along the way.

Throughout this episode we discuss how to prep for birth both mentally and physically. The importance of having a doula in your corner and along the whole journey to support you. We talk about how the more information you know the better and being aware of the models of care and the differences. Knowing what your options are ahead of time and surrounding yourself with people that align with your birth plan.

Aimee shares game changing tips around creating a beautiful birthing experience. The importance of having a planned out birth and one that is flexible and you know your options.
