Getting into the “Flo” with Jenna Claire Fletcher + a Yummy Green Smoothie

I am blown away by the amazing work of the beautiful Jenna Claire Fletcher. Jenna is doing an incredible job of inspiring local teens to find their flow in life and to truly value their self-worth through her Flo Girls program. I asked Jenna to be a guest on the blog today and below she shares some of her inspiring wisdom and a very yummy green smoothie. Enjoy!




After a long day I finally snuggle into bed. Toasty warm, comfy, listening to the storm. I sleep in a loft, so rain and thunder sound so close (I love it!). As soon as my head hits the pillow I sigh, and smile. Rain pounds just above my head and thunder echoes all around. I feel like I’m the ‘eye of the storm’ (…chaos all around, but complete stillness within, at the core).


Life is chaotic. Never ending. There’s always a To Do list that never ends (and most days grows instead of getting smaller). Most of us live in a continual state of stress – working at “getting stuff done”. We constantly do, instead of be; be in the moment and focus within. We’re so focused on what’s “out there” that we forget to focus on our present experience and remain centred. We get lost in the flow of life.


There’s two ways we can ‘go with the flow’. One – to get swept away and unconsciously flow with life, mindlessly following the crowd (conforming to the norms of society). Or two – welcome a new meaning, the modern day way of living that’s revolutionising how we exist in this world – to go with the flo.


To go with the flo is to live in a state of flofreeing your mind, loving your body, opening your soul. To be grounded in the present moment and focused within, living in a positive state of being. (Freeing your mind of all the crap that negatively affects you. Loving your body unconditionally and nurturing yourself. Opening your soul by shining from within and being genuinely confident.) It’s to stay true to yourself… being independently content and authentic.


To live in flo is to go with your own flo… to be mindful in every moment and to create your own path.


Shit happens. That’s life. In every moment there’s positive and negative, it’s simply about being optimistic and choosing to focus on the positive instead of the negative (note the word “choosing”… it’s a choice). We choose how we feel. To feel stressed is simply a choice (we’re merely focusing on the wrong things).


With me lying in bed surrounded by the storm – this is life. Potential chaos, all the time. It’s reminding ourselves that anything outside of us is ‘out of our control’… we either choose to let it in (for it then to become our own inner chaos) or to let it go, and go with the flo.


Free your mind.

Love your body.

Open your soul.


With reference to my favourite quote:


Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass,

it’s about learning to dance in the rain.


…Storms come, don’t wait for them to pass and take on the turmoil yourself – be optimistic and stay grounded when they hit. Remain centred by focusing within, and choose calm over chaos. No stress. Enjoy the moment (or even learn to love the storm).




The next morning I woke, and I’d love to say “the storm had passed” but it hadn’t, it still surrounded me. But again, it was outside of me, and I chose a ‘cosy’ state of being in that moment instead.


Part of The flo Philosophy is nourishment. Nourishing our body is essential to living in flo, as it’s only when we nourish that we can truly flourish.


This “Get up ‘n flo” drink kick-started my day and got me into action (ready to work through my To Do list with positivity and enjoyment!).



“Get up ‘n flo” drink


What you need:


1 medium frozen banana

1 handful of frozen green grapes

1 handful of baby spinach

¼ avocado

1 tablespoon of hemp protein powder

½ teaspoon of maca powder

1 teaspoon of spirulina powder

1 teaspoon of honey

½ teaspoon of cinnamon

1 cup of oat milk

½ cup of water


* NOTE: Feel free to go with the flo and choose your own quantities. J


What to do:


Blend all ingredients in a high-powered blender (I use a Vitamix).


Top with a mixed selection of seeds (here I used chia, sunflower, sesame, linseed, pumpkin and poppy seeds).



Give it a try (and it’s fun to have a green drink – you get some bizarre comments! hehe).


Stay real, and go with the flo.
